A Philadelphia art opening featuring the work of Robert Burden and Allure King with special guests Annlelille Gavino Kollman, Madhusmita Bora, and live musical performance by Maxfield Gast. As a musical accompanist at the University of the Arts School of Dance, Gast and tap instructor Burden have been collaborating for years combining unique instrumentation, rhythm and harmony with the art and sound of tap.
Robert Burden Jr. is a native Philadelphian and a close study under his mentors LaVaughn Robinson and Germaine Ingram- two of Philadelphia's tap masters. He is currently the Artistic Director and founder of Tap Team Two & Company, Inc, a Philadelphia based company that tours the country for Young Audiences of America. Along with producing shows and touring, Robert is richly invested in the tap culture of Philadelphia and continues to educate and inspire the youth as not only a faculty member at University of the Arts, but around the globe as a teacher of the Philadelphia style of tap.
Allure King has been immersed in art his entire existence. A self taught painter since the age of 5, King is the son of late great Anna King, a recording artist on James Brown's label Smash Records. Like his mother, Allure is a natural born singer and songwriter. As a multi-instrumentalist, King has not only had a strong presence in the Philadelphia music scene, he is known in the fashion industry for his photography.
