Philadelphia based alt-jazz experimental duo Trap Rabbit and Maxfield Gast present a new collaboration on the Treacle Mine Records label. Unknowingly fans of each others music, the two were unexpectedly connected by a mutual friend. Complimentary of each others work, the idea was born and Trap Rabbit and Gast began the process of putting their minds together to create something new. As this took place during the pandemic lockdown, composer and pianist Logan Roth and drummer Arjun Dube (the Trap Rabbit duo) began tracking at their studio, Treacle Mine Recording, bringing a structured concept to the table. When ready, they handed the track over to Gast and he went to work in Militia Hill Studio recording and arranging the woodwinds and EWI. When back in the hands of Trap Rabbit, Roth had the idea of adding harp so Gast reached out overseas to harpist and rising UK pop phenom Tatyana and she graced the track with her talents. After some back and forth and a bit more editing and arranging, it was now up to engineer Michael Cummings to mix the track down with a final mastering by Matt Kilmer. After several months of work, Trap Rabbit and Maxfield Gast proudly present “This Was Once Out Of Shape” premiering October 12th on Treacle Mine Records.

Trap Rabbit - The Duo

Trap Rabbit was formed in 2015 in a Philadelphia basement. Consisting of Logan Roth on keyboards and Arjun Dube on percussion, the pair champions a sound spanning multiple genres, utilizing raw instrumentation and synchronized musical chemistry to create an electrifying performance embracing a truly original sound.

Since meeting as students at Princeton University in 2011, Roth and Dube have played in multiple bands together, opening for well-known artists such as Vulfpeck, Ghostnote, Wyclef Jean, Mark Guiliana, and Moonhooch. Using their jazz backgrounds as a foundation, the pair never felt comfortable in the confines of one genre, and moved to Philadelphia after graduating in the hopes of meeting other musicians who shared their sentiments.

The duo has since collaborated with a wide variety of artists including Kuf Knotz, Christine Elise, Sophie Coran, Josue Lora, Skyler Jenkins, Jake Morelli, Eric Bazillian, and Phil Nicolo (among several others).
