MISSA GAIA - A MASS FOR THE EARTH
ST THOMAS EPISCOPAL CHURCH, WHITEMARSH
7020 Camp Hill Rd, Fort Washington, PA 19034
FREE ADMISSION
The choir of St. Thomas’, Whitemarsh presents Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia on Sunday, November 16 at 3:00 p.m., free of charge. In addition to remembering our lost loved ones, we will also remember the important work of environmental stewardship and pray for God's help in preventing further loss to our planet.
This work was premiered at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City and features choir, organ, saxophone, percussion, and other instrumentalists. The music flows from traditional choral music to gospel to Brazilian Samba, and features recordings of wolf howls, whale song, and the wind over the Grand Canyon. All are welcome to join us for this rarely performed work as we pray for the earth and our role as stewards of it. The concert is presented in memory of Andy Williams.
Michael Smith conducting The St. Thomas' Whitemarsh Parish Choir. Featured artists include: Maxfield Gast, soprano saxophone; Talia Schiff, oboe; Shawn Hennessey and Justin Leigh, percussion; Shane Aaserud, bass; Parker Kitterman and Connor Fluharty, keyboards; and wolves, whales, and wind by Planet Earth.
